FRONTIER FARMS
Behind the Brand
The genesis of Frontier Farms is over 200 years in the making. With a frontier land deed scratched onto lambskin, our family began raising cattle in Indiana in 1822. As fifth (and now sixth!) generation cattlemen, we aim to maintain our heritage while building a legacy for the future.
Frontier Farms is the product of a new partnership between Steve Hicks of Hicks Cattle Company and David Ray King of King Cattle Company. With this new partnership, we bring decades of combined experience as cattle producers and in the show ring to strengthen our commitment to superior genetics and the cattle industry. Our involvement in activities such as promoting opportunities for youth in agriculture is a testament to our commitment to the future of the industry.
After searching far and wide for the best place to raise our cattle and put down roots for our family, we relocated to the beautiful bluegrass country of Kentucky in 2021. To represent our new beginning, we adopted the “bar wigwam” hot brand. We were inspired by a brand discovered in a historic Utah ranch registry. For us, the brand represents our pioneering spirit and love of the western lifestyle, our own Native American heritage, and a respectful tip-of-our-hats to the Shawnee Indians who once lived in wigwams on the Kentucky frontier.
Frontier Farms is eager to build upon our heritage, pioneer our future, and build a legacy for future generations. We invite you to learn more about our operation and the cattle we raise.
